Red chinar leaves scattered on green autumn grass under a bright cloudy sky

A Kashmiri youth-led collective at Aligarh Muslim University

A piece of home, in our own words

We write, read, put our culture on show, and gather, so students far from home have somewhere to belong.

Membership is free, and there is no interview.

What we do · 2026-27

Six ways we will spend an evening

Every activity has a low doorstep. Pick one and come once.

How joining works

Write it down.

Short essays and columns on student life, home, and what we are reading this term.

600-word draftsEdited over tea

Atif QadriFounder · Social Media Handler

What home means.

Open sittings on Kashmiri language, food, memory, and carrying home into a hostel room at AMU.

Come to one open sitting

Talk about the Kashmiri Sufi saints.

An open discussion on the saints, the verses they left behind, and what still travels with them. We also record family photographs, recipes, and oral histories, with consent asked each time.

Monthly · Lawns

One book, unhurried.

A reading circle on the second Saturday of every month, on the Sir Syed House lawns. Two short stories or one slim novel at a time.

2-minute voice notes

Two minutes on campus.

Short voice notes from students at AMU and other campuses, plus a longer write-up when a week is worth keeping.
